Question asked

Temporary Work (International Relations) visa (subclass 403) - Government Agreement stream

I am a Swiss citizen, 24 years old and currently doing an exchange semester in Sydney. My student visa 500 is valid until the 23.01.2019. I am able to extend my stay in Australia with a visa 403 thanks to a government agreement between Switzerland and Australia for trainees. I have all the necessary documentation ready for that visa but I have two questions:

1: My work contract in line with the government agreement starts on 07.01.2019. When lodging that visa application what date should I put in as the start date of the new visa? In other words: is it a problem when the new visa 403 would start before the end of my current student visa 500? --> Does my student visa just get cancelled?

2: Preparing for the visa 403 it was written to attach the work contract to the application. When I wanted to attach the contract, however, I could not any adequate field for that document (see screenshots attached). I had to provide info on my employer and the activity I'll do in the process of the application. Can you please give me advice on whether I need to attach the contract and where?

Answer provided by our agents

Hi LG,
I hope you are doing well. Thanks for your questions.

1. Answer:
As your agreement starts on 7th January 2019, so you should put that date on the visa application. If the immigration department granted you a subclass 403 visa before 23 Jan 2019 then new visa (e.g. 403) will override your present visa (e.g. student visa, 500).

2. Can you please give me advice on whether I need to attach the contract and where?
I can confirm you that you can always attach/upload additional documents at the end of your application. Just write a short description of the documents (e.g. XYZ employment agreement) when you upload that document.

I hope I have answered your questions. Please feel free to contact me if you need any further information or clarification.

Good luck and have a great evening.
Kind regards,
