Dear S.

Following the COVID-19 pandemic the Australian Government has announced plans to adapt student visa arrangements in effect to support demand from international students.

Published plans include 5 changes expected to ensure international students are not disadvantaged by the Corona crisis:

1) Processing and decisions on student visa applications lodged outside of Australia to restart

2) Additional response time to be permitted for applicants to provide English language test results where COVID-19 has disrupted availability to these services

3) Graduates who held a student visa will be able to apply for a Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) Post-Study Work stream visa outside Australia

4) Current student visa holders studying online outside Australia due to COVID-19 will be able to use that study to count towards the Australian study requirement for a post-study work visa and lastly

5) International students will be able to lodge a further student visa application free of charge, if they are unable to complete their studies within their original visa validity due to COVID-19.
