Question of the Week

I have applied for my student visa and have not received my bridging visa yet. What can I do?

Category: Student Visa

Question asked

Hello. I have submitted my application of student visa extension today.

But I have not got a bridging visa yet. I only received a letter from the Department of Home Affairs. I don't know if I have got a bridging visa until now. How to get a bridging visa as a student studying in UWA?

I am in the gracing period, so I am very anxious. I do not know that if I submitted the application in the grace period, but the bridging visa granted after the gracing period, will I have problem? I am now in the last days of gracing period and I have submitted the application, but only I don't know if I have got a bridging visa and how to get it. So, I am very anxious, please help me.

Thank you.

Answer provided by Migration Agent

The Department of Home Affairs generally auto generates a bridging visa when a student visa is submitted whilst you’re holding a substantive visa.

In the instance you submitted a student visa within 28 days of your last substantive visa expiring the Department of Home Affairs will issue a Bridging Visa C (with no work rights). It may take a couple days for the processing centre to issue the bridging visa (they will need to check if you have lodged a valid application).

I might suggest that you apply for a bridging visa through the online portal as a precaution. Or read more about the Student Visa Australia
